Well, it looks like these birds are going to do the same crap as Best Buy (and a bunch more stores); listing a sale item in their weekly flyer, when in fact they don't even have it in stock. I traveled all the way over there, and was there before they opened on Sunday morn'  8-10-08 to buy a 19" Acer Monitor for $149. They didn't even have a New one in stock; had just one they said, on display, "but someone already got it". It's the fourth or fifth time I've seen this at Office Depot. The media has reported on this stuff in the past, whereas the "game is" to get you into the store with an "advertised deal", and then reap the benefit/s from another spontaneous purchase you make while there. Rarely, doe anyone go into a store and buy nothing. I don't know about you folk, but this wasting of my gas and time is B/S; if these jerks are going to have a "flyer" on something, they should be required by law to "HAVE IT" in stock. I've been screwed on this game so many times, I could fill my gas tank at least twice. Where the h___ are our "consumer rights"? Where's our "recourse"?

Purchased a MINI 2133 in September of 2008, Yesterday it froze up on me and I shut it off. Now it doesn't come back on and It looks like the motherboard has died. I contacted support only to be told that my warranty had expired on Sept, 19th of this year. After I received it and it got set up by the company I didn't use it for a complete year before it died. I've seen reference to several hundreds of these units experiencing motherboard failure and HP hasn't done anything about it. I have purchase everything from HP since I started here a little over 10 years ago, HP Servers, Switches, Printers and workstations and this is not the kind of support I've come to expect from HP. The HP Mini 2133 is junk, take a look around.

I've had 2 HP desk top computers (Models a250e & S3120N)  that worked only just about within their warranty period of a year. HP refused to fix them. My friends have the same experience with HP products. Save yourself the grief- don't make the mistake of buying any HP products.

Bought the PL4260N in 10/2006. It died last week on Christmas morning. Rep at HP customer service (wow, that's an oxymoron)  told me I was lucky to get three years and TV's are "disposable".

I bought an s3120n. It crashed and mother board replaced. It just crashed again today, 17 days after extended warrantee expired. I also Bought two hp pavilion ze4500 lap tops for my daughters that only lasted 18 months. That is the average live span of their products!! They stink. I will gladly jump on any class action again s hp. They deserve to be punished!

I purchased an HP p6213w-b for around $800, primarily because HP advertised (on the box)  this as an HD monitor/system. Unfortunately there was no HD cable. To make matters worse, there isn't even an HD video card installed, and to make matters even worse than this,  the installed (onboard) video card only accepts VGA. To advertise this as an HD monitor/system is criminal, given what's included. As it is now to late for me to return this I am going to investigate the "Truth in Advertising" implications of HP's blatant false advertising. It is also my intention to spread the word about the "new HP" and how they are ripping consumers off. This is criminal and I will do everything in my power to tell the world about their business practices.

Consumer Abuse & Financial Loss
"On Wednesday the 21st, I made a trip to Family Dollar for a few household needs, amongst which were 2/ Liquid Dish Soap, 2/ Room Deodorizer Sprays, Lightbulbs etc. After completing my shopping, I moved to the checkout counter and layed the items on the counter. The individual at the counter appeared friendly.

After paying for the items, I placed them in my basket, and headed toward the vehicle (there were three bags). As I walked across the parking lot, I heard a voice yelling "sir-sir". I turned around to see a young woman coming toward me with something in her hand - Lightbulbs. The same bulbs, I had just purchased. She said that she had seen them fall out of the back/bottom of the cart that I was pushing. I thanked her for her help and sharp eye.

Immediately, my attention was drawn to "what else" may have fallen out; and, to my shock, I had in fact lost something else: the bag that had the 2/ Dish Soap, and 2/ Deodorizers in it. I placed the rest of what I had left in the van, and quickly returned to the cashier who had handled my purchase. I showed her the back of the basket flopping back and forth, and explained that I had lost part of my purchase as a result of the faulty basket. Her response, was "oh no, not again" (whatever that meant). She then took the basket and re-secured it. What happened next, turned out to be quite the nightmare.

I asked her if I could go back and get the items again as replacement for what had fallen out (again, as a result of the shoddy Family Dollar basket). Her answer was: "no sir, I don't think we can do that - once you have left the store". At all times, I, and the van were in direct view of the cashier and the front door of the store.

I asked that she permit me to speak with the manager of the store. Reluctantly, she instructed another female employee to go get the manager. In a few moments, an older woman (perhaps 60+ years old), walked up and snottily asked: "what's the problem?" At this point in time, I was still trying to see the humor in what had happened - sure in my mind, that she would gladly take care of the problem. This was not the case.
Instead, she looked at me like I was deranged for even asking that they replace the goods; and stated: "we're not going to replace anything, you left the store". At least two more times, I pleaded with her to understand that the basket had initiated the loss, and that it most certainly wasn't due to my neglect in any way. Her response, was: "how do I know you didn't just put the stuff in your van, and come back to get free items?" That really hit me hard. It was a suggestion that I was potentially some kind of a thief. I offered her the opportunity to go look in the van (wasn't interested).

Again she stated "we're not going to do anything with this, and that's it". Immediately, I requested (her) supervisors name and contact number only to be met with the following: "I don't have a supervisor - I am the supervisor - I run this store" (all done at the height of her voice). At least two more times, I requested the number for a local representative of Family Dollar or someone who may be able to fix this thing. Each time, I was refused and harshly reminded: "I run this store".

Yes indeed things can get worse. Apparently, one of the other employees went next door to fetch a rent-a-cop. Back he comes, moving right in to the conversation. I tried twice to explain what had happened, and his only concern was: "The lady said their not going do as you ask, you need to leave the store". I explained further, that I was happy to leave the store - I simply needed a number to call to make my complaint. He looked at me, and asked: "did you leave the store with your purchase sir?" I answered "yes". "then, you don't have a case sir; you need to leave the store.

Fearing that this issue could literally get much worse, I said: "fine, but I need your name". He stated: "Dave Carol". I asked him how he spelled Carol, and he simply responded - "carol".
As I was getting into my van, the hostile manager came walking up behind me and held out her hand with a piece of paper in it. "Here, here's the damn number; it isn't going to do you any good though - you're not going to get anything" With that, she stormed off to the side and got into a small car (assumedly getting off work), and I went ahead and drove away - without the soap, spray or refund.

When I got home, I called the number. The name was Roxanne Miller (812) 820-2557. Her and I had what seemed to be a good conversation, and she assured me that this type of treatment was not tolerated. "I'll get back to you tomorrow, and we'll get this worked out to your satisfaction". I thanked her for her time, and hung up.

Next day .... No call from the woman (go figure), late into the evening. I finally called her about 7:30pm, and asked what the outcome was. She stated ho-hummedly: "just go up there and get your two soaps". I quickly corrected her and said: "as I told you last night, it was 2 soaps, and 2 deodorizers". A long pause, and: "well, just go get that - show her your receipt". I explained that I had reason to believe that my re-visiting the store could expose me to addition abuse, and that what I needed, was to hear from the managers mouth (herself) that it was fine to come in. And, as I added: "an apology" (also, from her mouth). She stated: "well, I don't think you're going to get that, but you can just go get your stuff". I told her to forget it, and that we'd just take it up on the WWW, and then I hung up.

The loss of $6.00 worth of goods, doesn't hold a candle to the hostile, degrading and intimidating treatment that I experience on my visit to Family Dollar. There was absolutely no excuse for the treatment I received. The only thing that's going to work for me now, is to see some true humility - in the form of, some genuine remorse for the way they treated me. They should take a good read on the disclaimer that topsecretthebook.com uses on their site (bottom of page)".
